About me

I have loved design for as long as I can remember. Driving down the freeway with my parents sitting in the back seat of our 1992 blue and green Chevy Suburban watching all of the billboards fly by imagining how I would change the ones I didn't like.

This really started it for me.

When I grew older I didn't really know where to take my artistic ability and all my friends were going into video game design but that did not interest me. I decided that I wanted to go into web design and development. I am so glad I did and I am so glad it has taken me to where I am now.

Now with a beautiful wife by my side, 4 amazing kids, and a solid foundation in the creative industry, I have found myself. Design is my life. I don't want to be doing anything else. Creative leadership is my passion. I love working with so many talented creatives and I love working with them and helping them grow and develop. A lot of people have amazing ideas and I really enjoy helping others align their skills and abilities with a company's values and needs.

Experience

Motivosity

Creative Director

I started at Motivosity with a very broken brand. Their assets were all over the place. They used illustrations, photography, 4 different fonts, and almost everything in between, which can work if done right.

My first tasks were to establish a brand that expressed the values of the company along with being able to expand and stay cohesive across all mediums. More info can be found here.

I am responsible for all things creative. I hire designers, developers, and copywriters. I am responsible for each team member's workload and assigning projects out to individuals. I also review and approve each project before it is handed off to the rest of the marketing team. Oversee all video projects from ideation to distribution.

I was also given the opportunity to fully redesign the official Motivosity product, both for mobile and desktop. It was a great learning experience.

ObservePoint

Creative Director

I was hired on as a Jr. Designer, and after about a year, I was promoted to a Sr. Designer, then I was promoted to the Creative Manager. From there, I worked closely with the then-current creative director. He helped mentor me and after about a year I was promoted to Creative Director. I managed graphic designers, videographers, photographers, design interns, and front-end developers. All creative projects started with me and were approved by me. 6 years at ObservePoint taught me a lot about persistence and creative and achieving goals. It really was the foundation for my creative career. You can see more here.

Freelance

My freelance career has been full of some amazing opportunities. I have worked with companies like STAY Wear, Autto, JobNimbus, Sky Crane Utah and a long list of other awesome businesses.

I started working freelance when I was in school and that is where the passion for graphic design and web design were started. You can learn more about my side gig here.

Department of corrections

This was a great experience for me while I was going through school. I wrote, edited, and reviewed reports. Managed and directed daily inmate housing operations, and supervised 28+ inmates at a time. I learned so much and I am grateful for the opportunity that I had to work there.

We design because we love design.
